Every year, my elementary school held jump rope team tryouts.
The team was reserved for fifth graders only, and they were the cream of the crop. I waited with bated breath for my chance to shine. The day before tryouts, a tragic Razor™ scooter accident transpired, and I split my right big toe wide open. Instead of skipping the tryouts, I wrapped my little piggy in a tennis ball sized bandage and jumped my heart out in flip flops. I made the team. What I’m trying to say is, try and sever one of my appendages and I’ll work even harder.
